An honest expression of English Pinot Noir Precoce, reflecting Ben’s time making wine in Beaujolais.

An honest expression of English Pinot Noir Precoce, reflecting Ben’s time making wine in Beaujolais.

Pinot Noir Précoce is an early-ripening clone of Pinot Noir that we’ve championed at Flint from the beginning. Harvested in early September following an exceptionally warm summer, there is juicy redcurrant and bramble fruit in abundance. The bright, youthful style is balanced by the structure of a small addition of French clone Pinot Noir, adding an autumnal spice to the finish.

Traditional unlined concrete tanks and neutral oak barrels are all we need to let this wonderful variety shine. Blending a little whole-bunch with crushed and destemmed fruit, focusing on gentle extraction of tannin and colour, gives us an expressive, delicate red with a silky texture.

Give it a try slightly chilled to bring out the juicy, ripe cherry and raspberry fruit.

Tasting notes

Bright and youthful with juicy redcurrant and bramble fruit in abundance, while a few months in old barrels adds an autumnal spice. Give it a try slightly chilled to bring out the juicy, ripe cherry and raspberry fruit.

Food Pairing

Pairs effortlessly with pan-seared duck, truffle fries, or a classic British charcuterie board. When slightly chilled it’s ideal for long lunches that blur into evenings.
