Pioneers of
English Charmat

Welcome to Flint Vineyard

Founded by Ben Witchell in 2016, Flint Vineyard is focused on pushing the edges of English wine with our sparkling Charmats, precise stills, and experimental Wine Club.

We have tours and tastings available throughout the week to see the world of winemaking through the Flint lens, and with the Flint Kitchen open Wednesday to Sunday for light lunches, there's never been a better time to visit Flint.

Book a tour...

Available Wednesday to Sunday at 11am, one of our experienced team will take you through everything we do from plant to bottle as we walk out into the vineyard, explore our winery, and finally sit down and taste our range.

Charmat

English fizz done differently.

Charmat is a wine for enjoying now and whenever you want, made from a complex range of varieties, including sustainably grown PIWI grapes, and blended to perfection by winemaker Ben Witchell, a pioneer of this style in the UK.

Still Wines

Precise whites, and light reds.

Fumé is our take on Bacchus, Silex a rich and evolving style of white, and Précoce a delicate ethereal Pinot Noir.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you can't find the answer to your question here, just email enquiries@flintvineyard.com and we'll be happy to help.

Accessibility

We are fully accessible.

We have low mobility parking at the farm by the winery. We aim to keep this available for those that need it most even on our busiest events. From there it's smooth concrete to the Cellar Door Shop, Wine Bar and the winery on tour days.

The garden and vineyard can be reached across some flat gravel and grass, now suitable for wheelchairs and buggies.

We have wheelchair accessible toilets inside the barn, and baby change facilities too.

On tours we can also provide seating for those less able to stand in the vineyard and winery.

For more accessibility information, and a video showing a walkthrough of the site, view our accessibility page here. If you have any extra questions please email us at enquiries@flintvineyard and we'll be happy to help.

Weather

We are open in all weathers and run our tours, tastings and events regardless of what England throws at us.

We have our barn for events when it's raining or cold, equipped with a log burner and heater for the winter months.

In warm weather, we have plenty of outdoor space around the Cellar Door and a garden with picnic benches that overlook the vineyards.

When visiting us, please dress accordingly for the weather, if it's wet then raincoats and umbrellas are a must. If it's cold, please wrap up warm. Sensible footwear is also advised, but the site is fully accessible, with grass in the garden/vineyard.

If you have any concerns about how weather may impact your visit, please email us at enquiries@flintvineyard.com

Families & children

We are completely family friendly. You are welcome to bring children of any age on site.

We have baby change and high chairs available in the barn.

Our tours can be attended by those under 18 free of charge, however they will not be able to take part in the tasting. Simply add them on the booking form to let us know they'll be coming along.

Our Flint Sundays are particularly family friendly and make for a good day out.

For safety, we simply ask for parents to keep an eye on children, as we are a working farm and some parts of the site are not suitable for children.

Parking

For visits to the shop and on tour days we have parking at the farm behind the winery. Drive up the slope and then turn right to go around the back of the winery. We reserve space in front of the winery for blue badge / low mobility parking.

On our busy event days, including our Flint Fridays and Flint Sundays, car parking will be in the field at the base of the vineyard. A short walk up the hill alongside the vineyard leads you to our garden and the Cellar Door.

Dogs

We are dog friendly!

It is worth noting though that there are often rabbits, pheasants and other animals throughout the vineyard, so if your dog likes chasing things, it might be best to keep them on a leash!

Alcohol free options

We have soft drinks and water available at all times, with coffee available for early arrivals to tours, and as part of Supper Club.

We try to have non-alcoholic beers from local breweries available too.

Unfortunately we don't make non-alcoholic wine at Flint Vineyard. This may mean that tastings are not appropriate for those that don't drink.

We always have spittoons available during our tastings for anyone that wants to try our wines but not consume alcohol.
