True to the Flint style, complex, dry, and a little unexpected.

The story

Without telling Ben, Oli trialled a Pinot Noir rosé made just for our Wine Club last year. To strive for the very best he kept back a small lot of Pinot Noir, a single barrel. In the end we were all glad he did!

In 2025 we built on this experiment with inspiration taken from the 'saignée' process, which involves separating a portion of fermenting red juice away from its skins. This both enhances our red wines and gives a beautiful base for a textural rosé.

Oli’s final blend includes Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay for a juicy, watermelon flavour on the finish.

Finally, we have a rosé that’s true to the Flint style: complex, dry and a little unexpected.

Tasting note

While intense in colour, it remains dry, deliciously fresh and floral. This is a rosé made for sunny days, light-bodied yet remarkably textured, finishing with a savoury salinity.

Pinot Noir leads the way with expressive aromas of wild strawberry, cherry and crushed raspberry. Oli’s winemaking is built for complexity and elegance, using neutral old oak for maturation to give a soft, juicy texture on the palate. Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay bring fleshy white peach and watermelon flavours, balanced by a bright, crunchy acidity.

Technical details

Grape varieties:
64% Pinot Noir, 21% Pinot Blanc, and 15% Chardonnay

Alcohol:
11.5 %. No chaptalisation (the addition of sugar to adjust abv) meaning the alcohol comes 100 % from natural sugars. A warm and ripe vintage, yielding brilliantly intense fruit, picked early for freshness.

Titratable acidity:
8.2 g/l - just how we’d want a rosé to be, bright and zingy, balanced by a soft, fleshy finish.

Residual sugar:
3 g/L - we added a tiny bit of sweetness as dosage, just before bottling, to balance the fresh acidity and give a bright fruity finish.
