ABOUT THE ROLE

Flint Vineyard is an exciting, growing winery producing some of the most highly regarded wines in the UK. Known for its beautiful vineyards and views it offers a shop and tasting space to visitors who can take part in tours, tastings and many other events.

Flint has built a reputation for offering some of the best vineyard tours which are personal, informative and fun. It has also developed a series of small festival events based at its home, Camphill Farm, which attract people from the area. The Cellar Door at Flint is open all year round where people can pop in from Monday to Sunday to taste, buy or stay for a glass of wine.

In addition, Flint is proud to supply some of the best retail outlets and restaurants in the UK including Berry Bros & Rudd, The Pig Hotels, Rick Stein, Tom Kerridge and Paul Ainsworth.

The key focus of this role is to build direct retail sales through the development of the Cellar Door and online shop. Coupled to this, the post-holder will have the creativity and tenacity to develop internal and external events and collaborations to further promote the brand and encourage direct to customer wine sales.

KEY TASKS INVOLVED

  • Manage a small team of shop staff to provide a first-class visitor and shop experience
  • Train the team in the story of Flint and the wines to ensure a cohesive, consistent and personal customer experience
  • Oversee the fulfilment of online retail and incoming trade orders from packing through to despatch
  • Deliver guided tastings to visiting guests
  • Oversee the Cellar Door on tour and event days and be prepared to work unusual hours. Saturdays will be essential with occasional Sundays and evenings too
  • Develop and contribute to wine-related events, both internal and external to the Cellar Door, to encourage an uplift in sales and daily visitors
  • Actively sell our wines through the Cellar Door demonstrating sound sales skills and excellent product knowledge
  • Act as first point of contact to all incoming enquiries relating to the Cellar Door, online orders and related events
  • Always strive to provide a customer experience that is above and beyond expectations
  • Work alongside the Brand Ambassador to develop new retail ideas that are in line with the values of Flint
  • Take pride in presenting a shop that offers a magical and engaging retail experience to all visitors
  • Implement website product amends and ensure online shop content is kept up to date and relevant pertaining to current promotional activity

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A proactive and tenacious person who can be positive and conscientious especially when busy and around customers who expect a high level of service
  • A genuine and demonstratable love of wine: ideally a qualification such as WSET but, if not, the desire to learn
  • Experience in a hospitality or retail environment
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with eCommerce
  • Ideally some experience in managing junior staff
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to portray the voice of Flint
  • A positive attitude and resilience that puts the customer first
  • Willingness to work on Saturdays, occasional evenings and Sundays and at key times when the Cellar Door requires
  • A creative and open mind-set and a drive to want to try new ideas
  • Someone who is not afraid to get stuck in and help in all areas
  • Great organisational skills and an ability to keep calm and sometimes improvise under pressure

FURTHER DETAILS

Full-time role – 35 to 40 hours per week

Our Cellar Door is located at the vineyard, near Bungay (NR35 2AH) and the role is on-site full time

Saturday working required plus occasional Sundays and evenings
