Venn Pinot Gris 2021
Venn Club Members only
We have about 1,500 Pinot Gris vines planted in our newest vineyard (established 2018) and since their first harvest last year they have been producing some beautiful grapes. Lightly blush skins at harvest are irresistible and we just had to make a single variety wine from them for the Venn Club.
The grapes were left to soak on their skins and a native fermentation was allowed to start slowly. After 7 days on skins the wine was transferred to barrel where is completed its fermentation and was left to age for 6 months on gross lees. It is a delicate gris rosé colour but an intense and complex wine. Only 300 bottles made this wine is only available to Venn Club members.
Tasting notes
Notes of bramble and spice from the oak sit but with a breeziness and fresh acidity that make this a wine that could be enjoyed in Summer as an aperitif or to accompany food. This a good wine for drinking early but given the good acidity and tannins from the skin contact fermentation, it could develop very well with time in bottle.
